What a week at Nielsen McAllister! I didn’t want to finish without sharing a little about what I’ve learned. In just a few days, I’ve gotten a feel for the fast-paced world of PR, marketing, and content creation.
One of the highlights was learning about digital marketing and content creation from Rory. He showed me how brands tell their stories and connect with people online, which was interesting. I also got an introduction to B2B PR from Hannah and even had the chance to draft posts for companies I’d never heard of before! Finally, I did some research for Rhiannon, which really pushed me to think critically and dig deeper into topics.
Another great learning experience was going over the basics of journalism and writing with Wendy Roberts. She talked about how she got into the industry, which gave me a good insight into what it takes to make it as a writer. Hearing about her experiences and successes was really inspiring and taught me a lot.
I decided to get my work experience at an agency because I wanted to be in a fast-paced environment where I could learn lots of different skills. I really liked the idea of working with a team and seeing how people come together to come up with creative ideas. It also seemed like a great way to meet new people in the industry and get a better idea of what career opportunities are out there for me in the future.
A massive thank you to Simon Kinnear, Simon Wildash, and everyone at Nielsen McAllister for making this week so amazing! I really appreciate all the advice and support you’ve given me.
It’s been such a great experience!
