I have also had insight into how important business to business agencies are, for businesses selling products and also the importance of advertising. I was able to learn information from a new area of work as well as business.
Before I spent a week at Nielsen McAllister, I was unaware of what a PR company was or what it did. Not only have I learned both what a PR company does and what a PR company is, but I have also been able to widen my area of knowledge on a topic I was unfamiliar with. I have also been able to learn how PR companies have a major role in business-to-business interactions, allowing for the advertisement of major events or important information for a business.
On my first day, I was introduced to how PR companies use social media and advertising strategies to get as many viewers as possible. I also saw how skills with digital website editing as well as knowledge on graphics, prove to have a major impact on the effects of advertising.
Another thing I learned during my week at Nielsen McAllister was the significance of managing social media posts as well as websites, to make sure they operate efficiently. Also, I gained knowledge on how specific software is used to not only find contacts but to see statistics, including followers gained or lost, or even likes from industries.
I also learned from my time in Nielsen McAllister the importance of good contacts, whether it’s a business or a news editor. Another thing was learning how often to make posts, making sure not to do them too little or too often.
I was also able to gain knowledge on the importance of being able to write news for local businesses, whether it’s a shop opening or an important advertisement for businesses. This is also important for helping the local area and allowing local businesses to thrive.
I was required to make a PowerPoint presentation during my time at Nielsen McAllister, allowing me to spend time researching not only how Nielsen McAllister operates as a PR company, but also how other PR companies around the country operate, advertising, as well as gaining followers. I was able to gain information on how specific visual strategies are used to please viewers, as well as looking at potential issues with certain PR agencies’ websites and the impact it could have on followers, viewers, or maybe even potential clients.
