It’s common knowledge amongst those that know me, that I love words. And people. And helping people with words.

So, it will come as no surprise that, for upwards of three decades, whilst my jobs have been varied and different, these are the things I have spent the majority of my business life focussing on; elements of networking, copywriting, account management, blogging, promotion and marketing have formed the backbone of the work I have undertaken for clients, wherever I have been employed, in whatever roles I have occupied.

Then 2020 arrived, bringing with it the reality-changing pandemic, and an end to the kind of jobs that enabled me to carry on my passion for communication and promotion.

What was I to do? Where could I possibly find a role, any role, let alone one that matched my skillset? I began dreaming – what would be my ideal job? Surely it didn’t exist… a job where the client was put first, where effective communication was key, where words meant something, where experience is valued as much as knowledge and expertise, and where people matter.

I’m here to tell you, gentle reader, that such a role exists.

The team at Nielsen McAllister have shown me that what I had regarded as a set of disparate, individually commissioned pieces of work, when devised as part of a broader, more cohesive PR plan, can increase their impact exponentially.

My new role here has allowed me to become part of that bigger picture, working with my colleagues as much as with our clients, to deliver true PR impact on a large scale, by paying attention to the small parts of a grander plan.

I couldn’t be happier. Serendipity, indeed.
